Our second winery on the Wine Wednesday tour is
Tank Garage Winery
Tank Garage Winery has one of the most unique location. “Tank Garage Winery comes to life in a 1930s era gas station in the Napa Valley town of Calistoga, California.”
These gas pumps are the first thing you see when you walk up. I wish gas prices were the same as in the ’30s!
From the moment you walk into this winery tasting room you can feel the warmth of the people. You are greeted with the kind of hello that makes you feel, I’m glad I came here.
The back room looks and feels like you walked right into a speakeasy. It would be a great place to go wine tasting with friends and travel back in time to a bygone era. I would love to rent out that back room for a small dress-up party. It really does transport you to a different time.
In the merchandise room there are cool guitars on the wall that are made from gas tanks
and an Indian Motorcycle.
If you want a fun vibe without all the stuffiness of most wineries then Tank Garage Winery is a must visit on your next trip to Napa Valley.

NEVER DREAM ALONE
Love this gimmick. You know, I went to a wine co-op in Italy once and they dispense wine through what looked very much like gas tanks. Locals brought bottles and filled up themselves.
Carol, I love the thought of a wine fill up station! Leave it to the Italians, always thinking!
What a fabulous place!
Nancy, it really does have that adorable charm of a 30s filling station.
I love that! Will have to check it out next time I’m in the area – I had no idea that existed!
Lois, it’s easy to miss as you drive by. It just looks like an adorable old filling station from the outside, but the inside has a wine tasting room you would never expect!
How fun and funky! I’ve been to Napa 3 times but never saw this one – so creative.
Cathy, Your choice of words are perfect to describe Tank Winery, fun and funky!
Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. I don’t think I’ll ever get out there (at least any time soon), but I’m glad I get to see the pictures. And I wish the prices were the same as in the 30s!
Glad you enjoyed!
Wow! I’m in love…thanks for putting this up on my radar…this place is perfect for me!!! Totally stopping by this winery. Love your photos. Xoxo
Happy to be of help, Marla! Enjoy!
I do not know much about wine tasting, but after reading about Tank Garage Winery I feel like I could try it and it would be lots of fun. Your pictures are really enticing.
If nothing else, Napa Valley is a beautiful part of California, and the wine tasting is something you could get use to!:}
Gosh, I love Calistoga (Indian Springs is one of my favorite places) and have never stopped here. Will add it to my list.
Kim, Make sure you visit the back room. The decorations bring you right in to 1930!
What a fun place. It reminds me of Cero Caliente winery in San Luis Obispo. The guy makes wine out of his body shop – and very good wine, too. Don’t know if he’s still there. BTW, what wines did you taste and how good were they?
Anne Louise, Next time I go to Napa Valley I’m going to bring a note pad to write down where I tasted what, and how much I like it. I always think I can remember more than I actually do!
I am definitely adding this to our next trip to Napa! Thank you for introducing this unique and fun looking winery! (Yes, any sentence that includes unique, fun, and winery has to be good!)
Ruth, it is adorably unique!
Whoat a wonderful retro place and the pictures are fabulous.
Ines, so glad you enjoyed the pictures!
I can’t see your photos! But I do love Calistoga. I used to go there for mud baths.
Janie, I didn’t know about the mud baths in Calistoga. I’m checking into the photo problem.
What a FUN concept for a winery! I want to go visit now. Thanks
Wendy, it is a fun place for a winery!
What a fun place, and I love your pics! 🙂
Thanks, Esther!
