I’ve been craving a panini, all day.
Not just any panini!
For some strange reason in the middle of the night {when I do all of my important thinking} I thought of a combination of ingredients that I knew would taste wonderful on a panini.
I haven’t been home all day, so guess what we are having for dinner tonight?
Can you guess?
You are right!
This mouthwatering panini.
I start with 2 slices of sourdough bread. On both slices of bread I spread on a good amount of strawberry jam. Then to one side, I add a couple slices of pepper jack cheese, if you like spicy add a few more slices. Add on top of that, add a few slices of prosciutto. I topped the prosciutto with a few leaves of fresh basil, closed the sandwich up and placed it on a buttered grill pan {I’m hoping for a new panini maker for Christmas, my old one retired a few months ago}.
This panini is the perfect combination of a little sweet and a little spicy!
Ingredients
2 slices of sourdough bread
1/4 cup Smucker’s strawberry jam
2 slices pepper jack cheese
3 slices prosciutto
a few basil leaves
2 teaspoons butter
Directions
- Heat up grill pan
- Spread outside of each slice of bread with butter
- Spread opposite side of bread with strawberry jam
- Top jam with cheese, and then prosciutto and basil
- Close sandwich and place on grill
- Place a heavy object {like a heavy pan} to squish the panini like a panini maker
- Cook on high heat for about 5 minutes watching to make sure it does not burn.
- Flip panini over to grill the other-side
- Continue checking until you get your preferred amount of crispiness
Enjoy!
