I have a new obsession! You ask, what’s your new obsession?
My new obsession… Periscope!
I can’t stop watching it, I can’t stop talking on it! I’m still not 100% comfortable, but I’m loving every darn minute!
Periscope is one of the fastest growing new social media platforms for Smart Phones!
You may be asking, what is Periscope?
Periscope is an App that allows you to view and do live videos broadcasts from and to anywhere in the world.
I for one love it because those who are watching you live can ask questions and make comments in real time. You can also send Periscopers love in the way of hearts that stream up the side of the screen, to do this all you need to do is tap on the screen.
So do you want to know how to use it? Do Ya?
First you need to download the App. You can do that here for IOS, and Android here.
When you open the Periscope App, you can log in with twitter or your phone number. I recommend you using your twitter account. If you have more than one Twitter account you get to choose which one Periscope is attached to.
To Broadcast:
It is so much fun to broadcast live what you are doing in the moment, share your experiences with others from all over the world.
It is easy to do, just the press of a button and you are live. Your followers will be instantly notified through twitter you are broadcasting and they can tune in. They can also invite their twitter followers to follow you.
To View:
Just imagine this just for a minute: you can watch someone surfing in Australia…then switch over and watch someone taking a hot air balloon in Napa Valley, CA…then switch over and watch a concert in Milan, Italy. All while making comments, asking questions, and sending hearts! Isn’t it all incredible?
Want to see who is currently broadcasting? Just click on the world icon and this is what you will see:
If you miss a live broadcast of someone that you wanted to watch, have no fear because you can watch them on replay for 24 hours, after that they are forever gone into Periscope infinity {never to be seen again}. Although, if you are the broadcaster you can save your Periscopes to your camera roll and save them for prosperity!
You’ll be surprised how many of your friends are already using Periscope. Follow back the users who follow you, it’s a great way to build your following. I would love for you to follow me, I promise I follow back! You can find me @itsaboutpretty.
Hope I to see you on Periscope soon!
Until Next Time…
XOXO
So glad you have a new toy! Lots of women are using it and it’s becoming very popular. I just don’t have time for it as I’m reducing my social media footprint in favor of other things. Plus I don’t like to view videos due to time and noise (I am usually online while hub is asleep) But I’ll definitely see at least one of yours!
Thanks, Carol!
Sounds awesome….I’m headed to check it out!
it would be perfect to highlight all your great trips, Tam!
I am trying to figure out how to propey use periscope for my niche. Sometimes I feel like I have nothing to say. And I am so not comfortable being in front of the camera.

Brianna, everyone has that uncomfortable feeling at first, but the more you do the more you get comfortable with it…and the great think the recorded periscopes only last 24 hours.
Periscope is loaded on my phone and I keep thinking about it. My real issue though Mary, is that my hands shake and I can’t control that. I worry that I will make others throw up! I do love watching others though. Going to follow you right now!
Ruth, I bought a little tripod for my phone it works perfectly!
I have it on my phone and need to get a bit more serious about using it. I’m thinking of using it a a workshop I’m presenting at this weekend.
Going to follow you now…
Thanks, Doreen!
I have been thinking of dabbling with Periscope for a while. But do I really need yet another SM outlet to suck up my time? Maybe. It sounds like it has a lot of potential for biz. Definitely checking it out! Yup….will connect with you too!
Looking forward to following you back, Tammy!
Thank you for breaking down this new social media and sharing why you are obsessed with it. I have given up on snap chat, maybe I can give this a try.
I too have given up Snap Chat, but Periscope just seems like it won’t get boring.
This looks super cool! This is the first I’ve heard about this new app but I’m gonna have to check it out and hope I don’t get addicted! 😉
It’s very easy to get addicted to Periscope. Be careful, Brooke. :}
I need to get engaged with Periscope. I tried it, but I’m not sure what it does for me yet. Guess I just need to jump in and go!
Jumping in is the best way!
I admire your ability to take on yet another social media tool/platform. Seems (overwhelmingly) wonderful! I do believe I’ll pass, though, despite your thorough instruction. Have fun!!
Lisa, I’m trying to find the Social Media that I mesh with and then only go with those, so I can scale back.
I like to watch them too when I have some extra time. I am not yet on it either but I hope to do some eventually. I just followed you!
Thanks, Carolann! I just followed you back.
Sounds interesting. Have you broadcast anything yet? If you save, can you upload to youtube? xxoo
Hi Kris! Yes, I have done a few, it’s been fun. I guess you can upload them to youtube, great idea!
Sound like a great app!! I will download it today and want to get its experience by actually using it!!
When you do Jasmine, follow me and I will follow back! Looking forward to seeing your Periscopes!
I am on Periscope. Trying to get my numbers up
I will look you up!
I have heard of periscope but never really knew anything about it. Thanks for clearing up some of the mystery! I can’t wait to try it out!
Once you do it, Jennifer its very addicting!
I tried it a couple of times but I don’t know if it’s for me. I like watching other broadcasts though.
Wow I had never heard of this! Would be very useful in an active shooter situation or anything major happening around the world! Talk about 1st person reporting! Very cool!
I have watched Periscope streams before but I just can’t get into it.
It’s definitely on my list of social media to-dos but not right now. I have a lot on my plate right now and it’s not a priority so, I’ll join in when I’m ready. 🙂
Seriously I SO needed a post like this! I am really curious about Periscope and looking to get engrained in the ‘live’ culture. Thanks for the helpful post!!
