My Afternoon With Maria Shriver

Thanks to a couple of friends, I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with Maria Shriver.  Myself and over 300 other guests including the young women who make up the student body at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace, located in the beautiful city of San Diego, California.

My Afternoon With Maria Shriver

The event was held on the spectacular grounds of the all-girls Catholic high school.  The Academy of Our Lady of Peace has been educating young women for the past 135 years.  Maria herself attended an all-girls Catholic high school and during the Q&A session she reminisced with the student body about why she too would roll up her uniform skirts (it’s a Catholic school thing).

She was inspirational and endering that afternoon, I could’ve have listened to her speak for hours.  Maria spoke about her newest book and No. 1 national bestseller,  “I’ve Been Thinking…Reflections, Prayers, and Meditations for a Meaningful life”.  This book will resonate with anyone who is looking for guidence, enlightenment, and insight.  The lessons she has learned along her life’s journey she compiled in this book.  Maria shares prayers, and inspiring quotes to help get us all through what she calls The Open Field, a place of acceptance, purpose, passion, and joy.

I love that she ends each chapter with a prayer and they all start with “Dear God…” Maria has said that the reader can put in any words they want. “I practice Catholicism, Buddhism, Hinduism … if you want, you can pray to the tree in your backyard, or it could just be a moment of silence. It’s more than religion —- it’s inspiration and counsel.”

Maria sees every person on earth as a architect of change.

She defines that by:

“People who challenge what is”.

“Imagine what can be”.

“And have the goal of moving humanity forward”.

Until Next Time…

This sounds like an amazing read. I’ve been so busy with work and blogging i barely have time for myself and relaxation. Should try to give it a read.
