New York city can be very over whelming. It’s not your typical city. With so many things to do and see, my girl’s and I knew we had to plan out our trip, but leave room for a the usual “happen upon” places.
We knew we wanted dinner at Birreria, it is one of the many restaurants of Eataly, located in the flatiron district of Manhattan. Bierreria is a rooftop restaurant and brewery. It was the perfect place to celebrate my daughters’ birthday. Luckily for me, my girls (identical twins) agree on most things, and we were very excited for our celebration dinner at Birreria. To get to Birreria, which is located inside Eataly, first we took a elevator and then we climbed the stairs to the rooftop, we loved the rustic look and the skyline view. It is a open air restaurant with dining under the stars, it was such a beautiful evening. We arrived right before sunset, it was perfect.
Our waiter, James, brought over a warm loaf of bread with a dish of olive oil! Yum! The loaf was wrapped in Eataly paper that kept the bread warm. I could have just eaten the warm bread and olive oil, that’s all this italian girl really needs.
Mia ordered the Portobello, a grilled Portobello mushroom with pear and taleggio fonduta. Mia says “The Portobello Mushroom was the largest, best tasting mushroom. The pear added a wonderful sweet flavor to the dish and the taleggio fonduta cheese had a bit of a nutty flavor. It was and excellent choice”.
Nina ordered Insalate Misticanza salad, Romaine, endive, arugula, radicchio, radish and sunchokes with red wine vinaigrette. Nina says: “The vibrant colors and the assortment of greens made my taste buds dance. The red wine vinaigrette was the perfect dressing for this delectable dish”.
I ordered Ivnoltini Di Bistecca, Donley Ranch (KS) skirt steak with charred endive, pickled ramps and aged balsamic. This is the best tasting skirt steak I have ever eaten! Perfectly cooked, it just melted in my mouth. I would definitely order this again. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
We highly recommend this restaurant, from the excellent food to the wonderful attentive staff. It’s hard to choose where to eat with so many great restaurants in New York, I’m so glad we choose Birreria!
