Autumn 2014 ~ things to do

Autumn 2014 to do list

Even though I don’t live where the true season of Autumn happens like the rest of the country, it is still my favorite season.  I love the thought of cozy sweaters and high boots.  I love snuggling with Handsome on cool nights and going to football games with our tailgate buddies.  I love warm drinks with a little something extra and I like to take long walks with Handsome in the sand, at the beach, under the full moon in the crisp air.

Here are a few things I can’t wait to do during this Autumn season.

1. Go apple picking

2. Collect Autumn Leaves

3. Make a pinecone bird feeder

4. Make butternut squash soup and serve it in a pumpkin bowl

5. Go on a wine tasting tour during harvest

6. Make pumpkin bread

7. Give sunflowers to a friend when they’re not expecting them

8. Go to a pumpkin patch and pick the perfect pumpkin

9. Make candy apples

10. Have Christmas shopping done before November 1st

What is your favorite Autumn activity?

A hay ride?  Watching all the kids dress-up for halloween?  Snuggling in the chilly air with someone special?  Carving Pumpkins?

Fall is my favorite season, even though it’s not quite the same here in Southern California as it was when I lived in New York. I’m a sweater girl so I can’t wait for the weather to start getting cooler. Just reading your list makes me all snuggly!

LOVE THIS! Especially the butternut squash soup in a bread bowl. Yum! I’m so excited because we just moved to VA, a state where fall is longer and more intense than any other place I’ve lived. Can’t wait to fill my front porch with pumpkins.

Much as I hate summer to end, I do enjoy the fall weather and all that comes with it. I love your list of fall activities. Apple picking is a tradition in my family and we have great apple orchards nearby.

Although I spend the beginning of the Fall mourning the end of summer, I do love football season, a fire in the fireplace, apple and pumpkin picking with family and making the season’s first big vat of spaghetti sauce that always makes my older son smile.

Yes to all of the above. Though I’ve never made butternut squash soup. I’d love your recipe. I have, though, already collected fall leaves in beautiful colors — to send to my grandsons for they live where leaves don’t change.

    I love, love, LOVE fall!

Super post. Thank you for sharing!

Great ideas! As soon as it cools down a little more, I’ll be all over this list. But, I have to admit that #10 is a bit ambitious for me. I doubt my kids will have their lists done before Thanksgiving!

I love you list! I have such fond memories of picking apples…. Even though it is not environmentally friendly at all, I also have such great memories of jumping in gianormous piles of leaves and later, after the sun went down, lighting them. Not sure if they did that everywhere but we sure did in 1960’s in Northwest Indiana :)!

This is a great list. My favorite thing to do in the fall is go to the pumpkin patch. I think we’re going to the one at Cal State Fullerton this year and I can’t wait!

My favorite autumn activity is by far walking or hiking outdoors in the sunny cooler weather. Seasonal changes are less dramatic here in So Cal but still exist. Not to mention Halloween. My favorite time of year, really and anything to do with pumpkins is just fine with me….
