A Sunday Drive to Temecula

It was our 25th wedding anniversary and Handsome had in store a week of surprises planned to celebrate this milestone in our lives. It’s hard to believe we have been married that long, a side from the fact, I am no longer that size 6, and we have 3 children. In my head, I am still that 25 year old!

My week of surprises started off on Sunday, when we drove to Temecula, CA.  Which is about 90 minutes from Los Angeles and about 60 minutes from Orange County and San Diego.  It was a wonderful drive, just to be able and talk and not be interrupted was a great treat!

We were going wine tasting!  There are 35 wineries with hundreds of award winning wines in that beautiful valley.  The grapes are in bloom from May through September and the harvest starts in September, and ends in October.  Grapevines are everywhere your eye can see over the rolling hills. Temecula valley grows it grapes and produces its wines locally, most wines are only available for purchase in their own tasting rooms.  Some of the tasting rooms also carry pasta sauces, olive oil and Jewelry and other wine and non-wine items.  I did pick up and adorable bracelet at Europa Village along with our tasting some their wonderful wines.

Many of the wineries, including Europa Village have special wine clubs, which offer Pre-Release wines, and exclusive specials to their members, along with discounts on all wine and merchandise.   One of my favorite wines at Europa Village was the Bolero Muscat Canelli.  It is the perfect sweet dessert wine. Yum.

Another wonderful tasting must is at Wilson Creek Winery for some of their Almond Champagne and their Orange Mimosa; it is an almond and orange flavored sparkling wine, perfect for a brunch.  We got a few bottles for Thanksgiving; I will be looking forward to popping the cork on those.

Our first day was a relaxing day of wine and laughter.  I can’t wait to share more of our anniversary adventure with you.
